Ride your own bike on this great adventure
We assist you with all phases of the shipping process - Freighting will cost approximately £700 (return) including marine insurance.
Your bike is shipped as is. It is loaded into a shipping container, secured, and padded with air bags for protection. You may ship your bike with panniers fully packed and bike ready to ride once it arrives in Iceland (windscreen and mirrors are left in place!)
1 week prior to the start of the tour you will take your motorbike to the port for shipping from UK to Iceland.
12 days AFTER the end of your trip your bike will be ready for you to collect from the port.
Our tour starts and ends in Reykjavik.

Our route is 95% quiet tarmac roads + %5 EASY compacted gravel roads
THE WEATHER:
The weather in Iceland is not unlike that in Scandanavia - You will have to be prepared for anything - wind, rain, fog, sun, cold, and heat. Temperatures may vary 5-20C.
ACCOMMODATION:
Accommodation is a combination of hotels, guest houses, and log cabins.
Several of the accommodations do not have ensuite rooms. You will however always have a comfortable bed & shower facilities.
OUTLINE ITINERARY ICELAND ROAD

This tour is suitable for most road bikes
as it is 95% TARMAC roads + 5% EASY compacted gravel roads
A more detailed itinerary along with maps etc is sent to all participants - the place names and details have been omitted from the outline itinerary below to protect our product.
This tour has been fully researched and personally ridden by John & Brigitte - as with all our tours, it is run & supported by Wildcat Adventures and led by John & Brigitte
Day 1 - Arrive Reykjavik. Tour briefing in evening. Overnight Hotel Day 2 - Collect motorbikes Ride along the South Coast
Collect our motorbikes from shipping agent - Prepare our bikes and ride along the spectacular south coast with its several waterfalls to our accommodation located between two large glaciers
Overnight Log Cabin

Day 3 - Southeastern Iceland
Continuing east we take a break at Jokulsarlon Glacial lagoon which lies beneath the Vatnajokull Glacier (the largest in Europe and the backdrop used in 'The Game of Thrones'). A unique opportunity to see the calving icebergs melting their way to the ocean.
After lunch we ride northeast on the scenic coastal road alongside spectacular mountains and beautiful valleys.
Our afternoon ride takes us high into the mountains on the first section of gravel road past one of the island's largest forest. Our accommodation is in a small village high above the eastern fjords.

Day 4 - Northern Iceland - The Cold Desert We ride along a high plateau (the cold desert) to Dettifoss - the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Great extensive views down Iceland's 'Grand Canyon'- one of nature's great wonders created by powerful floods from the high glaciers.
We visit the active Geysirs enroute to our Hotel/Guest House in the picturesque Myvatn Lake area.

Day 5 - Myvatn Day ride or Optional Excursions
Summer weather in this area can be warm and dry even though it is close to the Arctic Circle. We explore the Lake Myvatn area with its spectacular volcanic features (rift caused by the Atlantic and European tectonic plates, hot springs, geysirs, and teeming bird life).
There is an opportunity to do a day long excursion via jeep or Icetruck to glaciers and lagoons in Iceland's remote interior (not included in tour price).
A great opportunity to enjoy a short walk around the rim of an extinct volcano. Overnight Hotel/Guest House

Day 6 - Northern Iceland
We visit the 'Waterfall of the Gods' and continue west through the beautiful Langidalur Valley. A unique area with numerous small glaciers on the flat-topped mountains.
Our afternoon ride takes us north to our accommodation on the coast. Overnight Hotel/Guest House

Day 7 - Western Fjords
We ride out to the western fjords and enjoy the incredible seascapes and views out to the Drangajokull Glacier. We ride through some of the most remote and unspoilt villages in Iceland. Enroute we visit the witchcraft museum and stop for pancakes & hot chocolate in an ancient traditional Icelandic house. Overnight Hotel/Guest House

Day 8 - Western Fjords & Svinadalur
A great ride along the western fjords and over the mountains to our overnight stop in a small town on the fjord. Overnight Hotel/Guest House

Day 9 - Golden Beaches of Snaefellsnes Peninsula
Today we ride south west to the magical Snaefellsnes Peninsula and past the Snaefellsjokull Glacier - made famous by Jules Verne in 'The Journey to the centre of the Earth'.
We ride east and enjoy the wonderful golden beaches and mountains of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. A great opportunity to spot an Orca or one of the many types of whales feeding in the area.

Day 10 - The Golden Route
We now head south east towards Gullfoss (the Golden Falls) and enroute we have lunch at the Settlement Centre in Borgarnes.
We ride through the Thingvellir National Park which lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. It is at the northern end of Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.
An opportunity to visit the Geysirs and explore the area around the Golden waterfall.

Day 11 - Ride to Reykjavik
We enjoy a short ride to Reykjavik past Iceland's geothermic pipeline.
In the early afternoon we deliver our motorbikes to the shipping agent.
There is ample time in the afternoon & evening to explore Reykjavik - the world's most northerly capital - with an opportunity to take in a whale watching trip.

Day 12 - Depart Reykjavik - Bid our farewells & Fly home

BOOKING:
A £500 deposit per participant along with completed booking form is required to secure your place.
On booking you will receive further tour details.
We will assist and guide you through all phases of sea freighting of your motorbike. The cost of freighting your motorbike is approximately £700 (return) including marine insurance.
The Final balance is due 90 days prior to departure. You will then receive a final package including a detailed itinerary along with a map.
Our daily briefings will provide a description of each day's ride, highlights, fuel points, meeting points, accommodation address and telephone numbers.
